2019 BMW M2 Competition with better specifications will come to market later this year, replacing the current M2.
Where the BMW M2 Coupe always had a 370-hp N55 inline-six cylinder engine from the 2 Series, the upcoming M2 Competition reengineers the N55 engine with a detuned version of the S55-designated inline-six cylinder gets from the M3 and M4.
The new M2 Competition makes 405 horsepower, available from 5230 to 7000 rpm and 406 lb-ft of torque between 2,350 and 5,230 rpm. With the top speed of 155 mph, the car is available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed M DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. BMW has strengthened Competition’s front end of the new car with a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic strut-tower brace received from the M3 or M4. The car includes improved the Active M differential and the Dynamic Steering Control system as well as larger brakes on the 254/35-series front and 265/35-series rear tires that sit behind new 19-inch wheels, stability control settings. Inside, the car has M Sport seats along with light-up M logos.
BMW is offering new colors with this M2 Competition including Hockenheim Silver and Sunset Orange Metallic.
The drivers assistance options feature speed limit warning, collision and pedestrian warning systems, a rear-view parking camera, and lane departure.
BMW will soon announce the pricing details but the car is expected to cost at starting a fair bit above the $54,500 base price of the standard M2.
