BMW M2 Gran Coupe will arrive in 2019 and it will be quite unique in its segment. According to a report, BMW’s next-generation 2-Series family will include a Gran Coupe version of the 2 Series, BMW M2 Gran Coupe which will produce 365 bhp.
It will give tough completion to other cars like Audi RS3 saloon and Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. At the 2017 Frankfurt auto show, BMW R&D boss Klaus Fröhlich unveiled that the M2 Gran Coupe will come with a longitudinally mounted inline-6 and rear-wheel drive.
The BMW M2 Gran Coupé’s revealed images show some of the bodywork’s shape. It comes with a raised roof section at the back, creating a five-door liftback shape. Therefore, the car will offer more practical approach than the regular M2.
The manufacturing of the BMW M2 Gran Coupé will be held alongside the coupe and cabriolet at BMW’s plant in Leipzig. Talking about the interior, the brand new M2 Gran Coupe will come with a new interior layout from the successors of the 2 Series coupe and cabriolet.
The BMW M2 Gran Coupe will have three-cylinder and four-cylinder engines under the bonnet. On the petrol side, there will be a 134bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit in the 218i Gran Coupé, along with 181bhp and 242bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in mid-range 220i and 225i models, as a 326 bhp 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit in the 235i Gran Coupé.
The BMW’s next-generation 2-Series Gran Coupe is expected to launch in 2019.
