Ever dream of having a character with infinite, ultimate duration? Or a mighty warrior with lots of ammunition who can deal pretty high damage? Well, she is the one you’ve been waiting for. Recently, on November 10, 2017, Hi-Rez Studios, creator of Paladins release their new damage champion teaser in Twitter and YouTube that will join the realm. She is the cunning Vivian, and she is the Paladins’ New Hero. Also, she is a damage champion.
As her name suggests, Vivian is cunning, suspicious, careful and frankly speaking, she is strong. But what makes Vivian different to other damage champions? Well, to answer that, let us have a little exploration of Vivian’s Ability that makes her unique in the Realm.
Vivian’s Ability Set
Vivian is fearless and cunning, but what makes her more unique is her abilities. Here are the details.
Light Machine Gun
Vivian’s first ability is called Light Machine Gun. It’s theoretically cannot be called a skill but rather a weapon. Vivian carries a light machine gun that fires a shot every 0.14 seconds. Every shot deals up to 200 damage or more when she hit a headshot. However, this is only very effective in a medium range. Therefore, long-range shots will lessen its blow. Also, this will slow her down to 50% while firing.
Her first ability shows that she can dish high damage to enemies. But that’s not what makes her more amazing. For instance, there are also other damage heroes who carry rifle such as Viktor and Tyra that possesses high ammunition. However, comparing to Vivian’s ammunition, the difference is quite far. Comparing it to numbers, while Tyra and Viktor have 20+ ammo, Vivian has a staggering amount of 80 ammo. Though it’s lesser than Ruckus ammunition, considering she’s a damage champion.
If you’re wondering if it’s the same with Viktor’s Buff ability? Well, it is! As such, when activated, Vivian will gain an improved shooting accuracy in exchange for 50% slow movement, and if you’re curious if the 50% slow effect when firing will stack when this ability is activated. Fortunately, it won’t, accumulating otherwise will result to a very vulnerable Vivian.
Due to her slow movement, Vivian is vulnerable to agile heroes. Also, she has low escape ability, thus, making her a high target. In order to fill this hole, deflector shield arise. When activated, Vivian will project a frontal shield that deflects 1800 damage for 6 seconds. Unlike Fernando’s guard in which he can’t attack, Vivian’s Deflector Shield allow’s her to attack.
This ability is quite a show for Vivian. She can deal damage while avoiding getting smashed, but that this ability is only for frontal defenses, attacking her sideways or backstabbing her will be a good idea. Doing these tactics is a piece of cake for heroes like Maeve and Skye who specializes in backstabbing. A reminder for those who will play this hero soon.
This is her fourth ability, and it is much the same with Kinessa’s deployable. While Kinessa’s deployable slows enemies and dealing them damage, Vivian’s deployable is different. Instead of dealing damage, this sensor will allow her to see incoming enemies in a large radius. It’s like Strix ability called Flare, though it doesn’t deal damage. Also, only Vivian can see the revealed enemies.
In addition to her impressive ability, her ultimate is a monster. When activated, Vivian will summon two sentinel drones that will fire an energy blast while shooting enemies with her Light Machine Gun. Each sentinel fires 250 damage once per second. Its duration is infinite, and the only way to stop it is either killing her or destroying the drones. Pretty impressive right?
Vivian possesses three legendary cards. These are Suspect Everyone, Opportunity in Chaos and Sapper Rounds respectively.
Equipping “Suspect Everyone Legendary Card” will allow Vivian and her deployables to take 20% less damage from every enemy revealed by her sensor drone, while Opportunity in Chaos Legendary card will allow her to increased her firing damage by 20% if she stayed firing for 2 seconds. However, her third legendary card will let her raise her damage to shield by 150%.
Vivian is somehow like a combination of Viktor, Tyra and some addition of Fernando, Cassie, and Kinessa’s DNA. And honestly, she feels like a bit Overpowered. With her abilities, she can turn the tide backward and is very strong. In my point of view, Vivian is strong against slow-moving champions such as Makoa, Ash, Barik, and Inara. However, it is terrible to play Vivian against champions such as Kinessa and Strix, who can deal massive damage in one strike. Moreover, flanks such as Skye, Maeve, Zhin, and Lex are excellent characters to go against her.
Vivian is the newest damage hero, and she will be joining the battle in the realm soon along with the awesome game updates. Vivian is part of the coming OB63 Paladins Update this week.
